About the ICAEW Directory of Firms
The ICAEW Directory of Firms is designed to give you easy access to almost 20,000 offices of accountancy firms, with at least one chartered accountant working for them.*
Follow the area of the site best describing who you are (use the 'Business search' if you are in a business or just starting up and ‘Personal search’ for your personal affairs) to be presented with information tailored to meet your needs.
A firm providing accountancy services to the public can describe themselves as 'chartered accountants' if they meet ICAEW's definition of a member firm.
*Firms in the directory flagged as an 'associated firm' (marked with 
) are an overseas organisation, which although associated with a member firm, does not usually include a member of ICAEW as either a partner or a director, or a member in the case of an LLP.
Under the Companies Act 2006, firms that wish to undertake company audit work must be registered with either ICAEW or another recognised supervisory body (RSB). If firms wish to promote company audit services, they may choose to publicise the fact that they are registered (or statutory) auditors. There is no obligation to do so. This directory indicates whether a firm that has chosen to promote its company audit services is registered with ICAEW or with another RSB. If you require a full list of Audit Registered firms this can be obtained from the Register of Statutory Auditors.
ICAEW has launched a Business Advice Service which promotes ICAEW firms who have agreed to offer one initial consultation to SMEs and start-ups at no charge.
After the initial meeting, you are free to end your association with the ICAEW firm. On the other hand, the service may provide you with a valuable introduction to a qualified professional who can give you business advice on an on-going basis. A commercial rate can be agreed by the both of you.
