SME Funding Adviser Scheme
An ICAEW initiative to identify member firms which provide independent business finance advice to small and medium-sized businesses employing up to 250 employees.

The scheme identifies 10 areas of expertise on which chartered accountants can offer advice. The 10 areas of expertise are:
- Asset finance »
- Bank loans and overdrafts including Small Firms Loan Guarantee* »
- Business plans for bank and equity finance and internal use* »
- Business start-up (eg, own funds, friends and family finance)* »
- Corporate finance (including mergers and acquisitions, equity issues, management buyouts and raising or restructuring debt) »
- Invoice discounting and factoring »
- Grants »
- Leasing and hire purchase »
- Share valuations »
- Small scale equity finance (eg, Business Angels)* »
The SME Funding Adviser Scheme has four principle specialisms, which have been identified below marked with [*]. Firms which qualify for all four of these options will be classed as a SME funding adviser.
